ERTL 1/18 1970 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SX DIECAST MODEL CAR

1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass SX Diecast Car Model 1/18 Die Cast Car Elite Edition by ERTL

The history of Oldsmobile was a rollercoaster ride that lasted for 107 years and then quietly ended in 2004 but their legacy lives on as diecast model cars. The Oldsmobile Cutlass became America's best seller in 1976 with a lot of popularity based on rave reviews about its Rocket V8 engine. They may be gone for good, but your diecast muscle car collection will keep it remembered forever.

The 1970 Cutlass came in seven body styles with this being a beautiful 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass SX Diecast Model. With GM tossing out the 400 cubic inch limit for intermediates and the 442 now coming standard with the larger 455 cubic inch Rocket V8 from the big Oldsmobiles and previously used in the 1968-69 Hurst/Olds, Olds discontinued the 400 engine entirely and also offered the 455 as an option in the Cutlass S models.

VANGUARDS 1/43 MGB - BRONZE YELLOW

British Leyland's internal politics meant that the MGB was not replaced in the early seventies as initially planned but was given small face lifts every year.  It received standard Rostyle wheels, rocker switches, rubber-faced overriders, bright lurid colours reflecting the zeitgeist and in 1973 the grille centres and wipers became matt-black.

The car modelled is a famous press and publicity vehicle, photographed on 30th August 1972, and is reproduced as it was that day.  The pictures appeared in brochures, newspapers, books and other publicity material.  However, research by The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust shows that the number plate AKO 181L appeared on many other BL publicity cars.
