SCHUCO 1/43 VW PASSAT ESTATE

The Vw Passat sets standards of build quality in its class, and Schuco's model is a similarly tough act to emulate. You just have to admire the photo etched VW badge and the splendid roof bars, not to mention the neat interior. Again, the wheel hubs sum up the attention to detail. A real treat. Shop here

SCHUCO 1/43 MERCEDES-BENZ UNIMOG 404 LF8 HAUERN FIRE DEPARTMENT RESCUE TRUCK

The Mercedes-Benz Unimog traces its roots to the late ‘40s as a simple, four-wheel drive, multi-purpose agricultural vehicle. It has evolved to become a sophisticated truck with a variety of commercial applications. The U300/U400/U500 series was introduced in 2000 and continues the decades-long Unimog tradition of utility and reliability. Unimogs have very high ground clearance—higher than a Humvee—made possible by portal gears that allow the axles and transmission to be higher than the tire centers. Unimogs also feature a flexible frame that allows the tires a wide range of vertical movement to allow the truck to comfortably drive over extremely uneven terrain. They are equipped with high visibility cabs to enable the driver to see the terrain and more easily manipulate mounted tools. A variety of diesel engines are available in the Unimog, depending on the intended duty. Shop here

SCHUCO 1/43 MERCEDES - BENZ LP 608 SUPPORT TRUCK

The Mercedes-Benz LP mid-range truck line premiered at the Brussels Motor Show in 1965. The cab-over-engine design provided exceptional space efficiency and excellent driver visibility. Interestingly, the cab was fixed for safety reasons and not able to swing forward as later became common in similar truck configurations. As a result, engine maintenance was not an easy task. Nonetheless the modern design, light weight and array of engine options catapulted the LP series to the top of its market within two years. Shop here

SCHUCO CLASSIC TIN TOYS: THE COLLECTOR'S GUIDE

The history of Schuco can be traced back to the birth of Heinrich Muller in 1887. Muller had begun making his own toys as a teenager, and he soon joined the Bing Company. In 1912, he left Bing and, together with Heinrich Schreyer, a local merchant, formed the toy company Schreyer & Co., which in 1921 became known simply as Schuco. The company began by making small felt and plush covered mechanised figures and animals. One very famous Schuco toy, which was first produced in the 1920s, was the Pick-Pick Bird. An incredible 20 million were made in a production run that lasted until the 1960s. It was in the mid-1930s that Schuco came up with its Schuco-Patent-Motor-Car. As early as 1946 Schuco toys were appearing in American stores and the boom was about to begin. Sadly, by the mid-1960s, the writing was on the wall and the end of the tin toy was not far away. Diecast metal and particularly plastics were the new high-tech materials, which had begun taking over as early as the late 1950s; tin was perceived to be slightly old-fashioned. There was also the so-called 'safety issue' of tin toys with sharp edges and small children. The company did not turn to plastics until the early 1970s; by then it was very much a case of too little to late. By 1976, Schuco had gone out of business. This informative and beautifully illustrated book is an absorbing record of the history of this internationally famous mechanical toy producer. Anyone interested in collectable toys will be entranced by the illustrations; anyone who is interested in the history of transport will be fascinated by the changes that this century has seen. ---See more

The Mercedes-Benz CLC-Class is a luxury compact car produced by the Mercedes Car Group division of Daimler AG since 2002. It can be powered by a variety of gas or diesel engines, in four or six cylinder designs. Schuco is a legendary German toy manufacturer, founded in 1912. While Schuco continues to issue a limited number of metal retro-toys for collectors, today the company is better known for its amazing diecast vehicle replicas. Working directly with manufacturers and car collectors, Schuco painstakingly re-creates each vehicle in miniature, often incorporating tiny details only visible with a magnifying glass. Most Schuco models are issued in specified limited quantities, and once gone, will not be made again. That’s why wise collectors know that a Schuco model isn’t just a purchase: It’s an investment with a lifetime return of enjoyment. Shop here

SCHUCO 1/43 AUDI TT COUPE DIECAST MODEL

Audi revealed the second-generation TT on April 6, 2006. It uses aluminum in the front body panels, and steel in the rear, to enhance its near-neutral front-to-rear weight distribution. It is available in front-wheel drive or 'quattro' four-wheel drive layout, and is offered as a 2+2 Coupé or as a two-seater Roadster. Factory production commenced during August 2006. Powertrain options include one of two inline four cylinder engines: The all-new 1.8 liter Turbocharged Fuel Stratified Injection or the more common and established 2.0 liter TFSI. The Fuel Stratified Injection technology was derived from the Audi Le Mans endurance race cars, and offers improved fuel efficiency as well as an increased power output and cleaner emissions. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, with the six-speed 'S tronic' as an option. The new TT now has a multi-link fully independent rear suspension to compliment the front independent suspension. The new TT also features a revised rear spoiler; which automatically extends at speeds greater than 75 mph, and retracts again below 50 mph.Shop here

SCHUCO 1/43 AUDI A5 CABRIOLET DIECAST MODEL

The Audi A5 is available in two-door coupé and cabriolet versions and is a modern manifestation of the grand tourer tradition. The design is based on Nuvolari quattro concept car. The coupé was introduced in 2007 while the convertible was unveiled at the New York Auto Show in 2009. Besides being strikingly beautiful, the design is notable for its departure from Audi's trademark engine mounting position over the front axle, instead being located behind the front axle in an effort to achieve a more even weight distribution between the front and rear wheels. A variety of sophisticated engines are available including a 3.0 liter V6 supercharged engine option for the cabriolet. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or 6-speed Tiptronic automatic. SCHUCO 1/43 MERCEDES-BENZ L 319 PORSCHE SUPPORT VAN

The Mercedes-Benz L 319 was the company’s first delivery van design after WWII, premiering in 1955. It was designed to carry payloads from 1.6 to 1.9 tons and was available in a variety of configurations: Delivery van, small bus, pickup and even as a cab/chassis for customer applications. Mercedes applied its usual engineering prowess and innovation to create a forward cab design with a slightly rounded, enclosed structure, creating a load-bearing box. The mechanical design was intentionally simple with solid axles and leaf springs, and options for gas and diesel engines from the Mercedes passenger car program. The L 319 was a huge commercial success with over 120,000 built when it was replaced in 1968 by the T2 series. Shop here

SCHUCO 1/43 VW T2A PORSCHE FACTORY VAN

In 1968, the second generation Volkswagen T2 Minibus was introduced. It was built in Germany until 1979. Models before 1971 are called T2a while models after 1972 are called T2b. This second-generation Minibus was slightly larger and considerably heavier than its predecessor. At 1.6 liter displacement and 48 hp, the engine was also slightly larger. The new model had half-shaft axles fitted with CV joints, which raised ride height. The T2b was introduced by way of gradual change over three years. The first models had unique body features, such as curvaceous bumpers with the front bumper wrapping around to form the step when the door was opened, front doors that opened to 90 degrees from the body and crescent air intakes in the D pillars. They also had unique engine hatches, and up until 1972 front turn signals set low on the nose, giving rise to their German nickname 'Low Lights'. Over its long life, VW made the T2 in a wide variety of configurations including the classic Minibus, delivery van, and the Combi, a useful platform for custom commercial designs. See more

SCHUCO 1/43 HANOMAG R40

This detailed scale model of the Hanomag R40 (for 40 hp) features an open cab and second fender mounted seat. A highly collectable model from Schuco includes it's own presentation case. The roots of Hanomag go back to 1835 when George Egestorff founded an engine works in Hanover, Germany. It wasn't until nearly 100 years later, in 1924, when Hanomag introduced tractors and other vehicles. Over the following years, Hanomag has been acquired by many other companies such as Massey Ferguson, IBH and most recently in 1989 Komatsu.

For those who collect agricultural models, this is a 'must'. After development work, production of this tractor started in 1942. This model is a very accurate rendition, as one has come to expect from Schuco, with a very aceptable level of detailing. Shop here

SCHUCO 1/43 CITROEN HY MICHILIN DELIVERY TRUCK

The Citroën HY Van was a light delivery van produced by the French car maker between 1947 and 1981. It was developed as a simple front wheel driven van after WWII. A total of 473,289 were produced in 34 years in factories in France and Belgium. The engine, gear box and many smaller parts are borrowed from other Citroën models. For example, the engine and gearbox are nearly the same as the Traction Avant automobile, only mounted with the engine to front. For many years, the head lights and speedometer were identical to the classic 2CV. The distinctive corrugated body work was inspired by German Junkers aircraft of the 1930s. The ribs added strength without adding weight, and needed only simple, low cost tools, which was ideal for a cash-strapped, post-WWII Citroën. The flat body panels were braced on their reverse side by box sections, set at right angles to the ribs.

Schuco's diecast 1:43 scale is a highly collectible, fine line of motorsports car model. Made extremely precise in detail, with near perfect proportion to the real cars, this Citroen HY box van Michelin is made for the car enthusiast like you. Limited edition Many details have etched brass parts which puts the models at the top of their class in terms of Quality. The accurate miniature models, standardized to the international collectors' scale of 1:43.  Shop here

SCHUCO 1/43 MASSEY FERGUSON TE20 TRACTOR

This highly collectable model of the Ferguson TE vintage tractor from Schuco includes it's own presentation case. The first Ferguson tractor was built in partnership with David Brown in 1936, but soon after Ferguson left for America to continue production there. It wasn't until 1946 that a Ferguson was again built in England, the Ferguson TE - for Tractor England. Ferguson merged with Massey-Harris in 1953 to become Massey-Ferguson.

An ideal model for the agricultural collector. A cute rendition of this classic, with loads of detail, especially in the engine region, seat and driver's controls. Very nicely treated tyres too. Th front and rear lights are extremely realistic looking for their size. A good buy. Shop here or here

SCHUCO 1:43 MERCEDES-BENZ 170V TEXACO DELIVERY VAN

The 170V was first displayed by Mercedes Benz at the 1936 Berlin Motor Show and enjoyed a production from 1935 to 1941.
