JOAL 1/50 DUMP TRUCK

The Komatsu HD605-5 Dump Truck model from Joal in 1/50th scale is certainly good value for money. Normally, the fine detail on dump trucks is nothing to get excited about-they are basic machines for dirty jobs and have to be strong and robust. However Joal have worked hard to get such items as grab safety rails in proportion. In addition, the tyre patterns are authentic and there is a wealth of other clever detailing. This is a pleasingly accurate replica of the 715 hp machine, which has a healed payload capacity of 52.3 cubic yards. Shop here

K17 - FORD D800 ARTICULATED LOW LOADER WITH BULLDOZER

This model released the Matchbox King-Size K-17 Ford D800 Articulated Low Loader with Case Bulldozer in 1970. The tractor and trailer were always painted green all over except for the yellow fuel tanks which when lifted would uncouple the tractor unit from the trailer. Both tractor and trailer were fitted with red plastic hubs with black plastic tyres which included a spare wheel mounted to the top of trailer.

The bulldozer had a red painted body with a yellow baseplate which included the engine and dozer blade as part of the casting. It also had yellow plastic rollers and a removable yellow metal cab roof and it was fitted with green rubber tracks which were replaced by black rubber tracks on the later issues. Both the the Tractor unit and the Bulldozer had decals for 'Laing' but later 'Taylor Woodrow' decals were fitted including extra decals applied to the back of the tractor cab and to the back of the Bulldozer cab.

THE TAYLOR JUMBO CRANE

The Taylor Jumbo Crane (11c) replaced the ERF Petrol Tanker in June. It was usually found in all-over yellow with a red double chain hook. When the weight box was painted red, a few hooks appeared with single chains in either red or yellow plastic.
The jib was subject to a number of casting changes. These centered upon the top and bottom lattice work which originally was cast open but this gap was later closed. The final jib version included a small cross brace between the top plates.

A King size version, also in plain yellow, was released at the same time. The miniature model was available for five years before it was replaced in April 1969 by the Scaffolding Truck.

SCHUCO 1/32 MERCEDES-BENZ TRAC 1800 TRACTOR

The MB Trac was developed by Mercedes-Benz from their Unimog truck platform. Mercedes built Trac’s from 1973 to1991 in a variety of configurations, and has since sold the design to another German company that continues to build them. The Unimog truck was originally intended as an agricultural platform, so in the early ‘70s Daimler Benz evolved the design into the MB Trac, aimed at larger scale farming. The new tractor crossed the Unimog technology of all-wheel drive and a robust power transmission to four large equal-sized wheels, with the appearance of a tractor: slim hood, with an angular, elevated driver cab. From the initial MB Trac, a broad product range developed, culminating in the heavy duty MT Trac 1800 Intercooler with 180 hp engine. When Daimler Benz ended production in 1991, 41,000 vehicles were produced, of which 30,000 are still in service. Buy it now

CAT D11R TRACK-TYPE TRACK IN 1/50th SCALE FROM NORSCOT

The 1:50 scale CAT D11R is a scale replica of Caterpillars second largest Track-Type Tractor. The real machine weighs in at 225,500 lbs or 100.66 tons and is powered by a 850 horsepower CAT engine. The model is equally as impressive as the real machine, the dozer blade raises and lowers, tilts forwards and backwards, the single legged rear ripper also raises and lowers.

Add this earth-moving die-cast model Track-Type Tractor to your collection and replicate a construction site. The detailed 9-inch, 1:50 scale, black-and-gold tractor has a tilting dozer blade; stretchy, removable caterpillar tracks; a mobile ripper; various bars and handles; textured surfaces; exhaust stacks; and rotating cogged wheels above four base wheels. Transparent plastic windows offer interior views of the cab complete with levers and driver's seat. The heavy metal frame makes this vehicle tough to topple. But with its small, potentially finger-pinching moving parts, it's recommended for children ages 8 and older. --Kathryn Gustafson Buy it now
