SUNSTAR 1/24 BEDFORD 1949 OB COACH DUPLE VISTA GREY CARS

Introduced in August 1939, the Bedford OB chassis was designed specifically for public transport. The off-set differential on the rear axle combined with the mounting of the engine and the gearbox at a slight angle permitted a sunken, central gangway for easier passenger access. However two months later, following the outbreak of World War II, production was stopped after only 73 chassis had been manufactured. In January 1942, production of a more utilitarian version known as the OWB recommenced. In October 1945, production of the OB resumed and the Bedford OB chassis went on to play a major role in the re-equipping of many transport fleets as demand rose sharply.

Over 40 different coach-builders used the chassis, but by far the biggest was the Hendon-based firm of Duple, whose Vista body was to become synonimous with the OB coach. However, the Vista body underwent many changes during its life. Unlike the original pre-war and the first 46 post-war Duple Vistas, which had an entrance door which slid behind the main side body panel, the door on the following models slid open into an external recess.

During 1947, the destination and fleet-name boxes were modified,a rounded outer edge replacing the earlier angular one. In 1948, due to material shortages, the characteristic side “flash” was omitted and replaced by a single aluminium bead about 3 inches below the waistline, and the operator's name plate box was removed from the rear. The original 4-spoked steering wheel was replaced by a 3-spoked version. In 1949, the side flash and the operator's plate returned. Later that year, the luggage door locks, which had been operated by a T-key, were replaced by a single locking handle and the rear direction indicator lights were changed. The large chromed bumper over-riders were removed, a deeper rear bumper/body trim was added which incorporated the wording Bedford-Duple and a Duple motif was added to both sides of the 1950. As an option for sight-seeing services, quarter-lights in the roof were offered which necessitated. Shop here

SUN STAR 1/24 - 850 DYE QUEEN's SILVER JUBILEE

If you are interested in that great icon of London the AEC Routemaster, then this absolutely stunning will not disappoint!

The Sun Star AEC Routemaster is a limited edition model and are getting rare to find as new ones find their place in collections. Sun Star have reportedly ceased making the Routemaster of which there are about 7 different models.

The detail is outstanding, the model 'looks right', it has a metal body and is quite heavy in weight but it is something you can look at from any angle and really enjoy.

The bonnet lifts to show a representation of the famous 9.6 litre AEC six cylinder diesel engine, turn the bus ovr and you get a detailed chassis with separate gearbox, a fan that goes round by hand and radiator pipes.

The interior is superb, the moquette seat patterns are accurately reproduced, the hand rails in chrome too, the wheels are poseable (steerable) and the wheels rotate and have lovely scaled AEC badges on the hubs, the front grille is a fine gauze and you can see the radiator through the mesh.

This really is an adults only model and is a striking conversation piece. Each model comes with a certificate recording the individual serial number of the bus in that edition. --Mr.M Sander

With a registration of 850 DYE, this collector's model of the Routemaster is finished in the silver livery celebrating the Queen's Silver Jubilee London Celebrations 1977. Buy here

SUN STAR 1/12 SCALE - 1969 Woodstock Bus Volkswagen Kombi - "LIGHT"

In the USA, the VW Bus became an icon of the 60s and, in particular, of the hippie youth sub-culture. It could carry a number of passengers, camping gear and supplies, its shape was the antithesis the American automobile of the period, and as a second-hand or used vehicle, it was extremely cheap. It quickly became a symbol of the Peace and Love, anti-war generation. Robert R. Hieronimus, Ph.D. has been an acknowledged pioneer in the "New Paradigm" movement for over 40 years. Dr. Bob's most famous Artcar, the Volkswagen bus "Light" (better known as "the Woodstock bus"), was photographed by the Associated Press and Rolling Stone at the original 1969 Woodstock, and is still seen today regularly reprinted in media all over the world. Sunstar have produced this immaculate model in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Woodstock.

GO BACK TO THE FUTURE WITH SUNSTAR

Back to the Future I version
Back to the Future II version

The way I figured it, if you’re gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style? –‘Doc’ Emmett L.Brown.

In 1985, teenager Marty Mcfly accidentally found himself behind the wheel of Doc Brown’s lastest invention, a super customized DeLorean retrofitted with a portable plutonium-powered nuclear reactor which sent him hurting through the veil of time 30 years into the past to help his parents fall in love. Doc explained to Marty that the car’s stainless-steel construction helps with flux dispersal, an aid necessary for time travelling. When he later travelled forward to the future, Doc took the DeLorean concept to all new heights. Modified and futurised with a simple hover conversion from the year 2015. Enabling the DeLorean to defy gravity as well as the time barrier, and later in the Wild West it a railway.
A trio of terrific models from SunStar accurately portray the amazing DeLoreans for the Back to the Future trilogy. These gorgeously detailed 1:18 cars show the original car and the modified high-wire-catching pole version from the first film, the wheel swiveling version from the second film and finally the railtracked version from the third episode. LOVELY LINCOLN PREMIER

1956 Lincoln Premiere Diecast Model Yellow 1/18 Die Cast Car Platinum By Sunstar

Bigger was definitely better for 1950s American Iron and few cars were bigger than the 1956 Lincoln Premier. While the ’56 Cadillac and Imperial were face-lifted older models, the 1956 Premier was completely new and its clean, sharp-edge lines won the prestigious International Design Institute Award. SunStar’s new 1956 Premier Convertible has many fine features – pivoting doors, parallelogram hood hinges, spring-loaded pivoting wipes, and exceptionally thin ‘gold’ photo-etched badges – but none of these would mean much if the shape was wrong. Happily, the lines, proportions, and details are all exactly right. All the trim on this fully detailed model is done with separate plated pieces or photo-etched parts. Lifting the hood displays the big 368 cid V-8 which is also very well detailed; even the hose clamps have been picked out and SunStar has included a couple of bags for the trunk, too. Despite its massive size, SunStar’s premier is amazing 0.02 inches of perfect 1:18 scale.

1951 KAISER HENRY J

This SUNSTAR 1/18th scale Henry J model is very difficult to find. There have been many delays from the manufacturer Sunstar. Still, it has finally arrived and it is well worth the wait. This model checks out to an exact 1/18th scale. The model is detailed beyond belief, with working suspension, proper door hinges and much more. This model is NOT a toy. It is a precision built diecast model and it should be for display only. I suggest a plastic or glass case for the model, as dust can make it hard to keep clean. Many of the parts are very delicate too. Overall, this is a fantastic model and will not disappoint any Kaiser Frazer fan. --Richard Hamilton

BEL AIR CRUISER; 1954 CHEVROLET 'POLICE'

Chevrolet gave the top-line a backward-slanted C-pillar, a wrap-around grille, and new taillights for 1954, all of which Sun Star has modeled very accurately for this 1:18 scale Police Car. But the prominent Bel Air side trim and badges are missing and I’ve never seen the ‘bow-tie’ emblems used on the fenders of any version. The diecast body has no mold lines or other flaws and its two-tone black and white paint is smooth and glossy but does have some orange peel. The white stripes, ‘Powerglide’ logo, and glossy but does have some orange peel. The white stripes, ‘Powerglide’ logo, and ‘hockey-stick’ rocker panel trim are all hot-printed, but all other trim is done with carefully fifted chromed parts. Besides the classic black and white paint, the model has generic ‘Police’ markings, flashers, spotlight, and dog dish hubcaps. Although the engine bay is a one-piece molding, details are neatly painted and it looks pretty good.-- SMI April 2007. See more.

SUNSTAR 1/24 GREEN LINE ROUTEMASTER COACH

In 1964, less than two years after their introduction, it was decided to give a face-lift to the RMC’s. The main changes were at the front where the wings were revised to give a smoother, deeper line, the brake vents were omitted and the registration plate was attached beneath the lower edge of the body. The “via” box was widened to match the main destination blind box and the lower half of the front ventilation grille was covered to form a continuous band between the two decks. The main livery changes included the disappearance of the main Green Line wording on the side of the lower decks and the use of decals for a revised roundel which was moved forward on the sides to below the first window of the upper deck.
