REVELL 1/18 WIESMANN ROADSTER COLOR A

In the beginning, as with many individually built cars, there was a dream. This was the case with the brothers Martin and Friedhelm Wiesmann who, in 1985, came up with the idea of building a made-to-measure car developed and designed by them. It was not realised until 1993 when a small series was produced. This agile, hand-crafted two-seater from the workshop in Dülmen offers individualists intoxicating performance combined with classical but timeless lines.

Opulent, but also attractive and sporty the Roadster presents itself with a long sweeping bonnet finished off with a rounded rear which fires an enthusiasm that many a major manufacturer longs for. The cockpit is also dazzling, finished with top quality chrome and leather fittings from the firm's own workshop. It is not only the design of the MF 3 that satisfies the highest requirements. Dynamic handling characteristics prove the Roadster to be a real thoroughbred sportster. The technology, suspension, axles and gears come from the BMW M range, so that the MF 3 hides under its bonnet a powerful, water-cooled, 6-cylinder in-line engine with a capacity of 3.2 litres and 343 bhp.

The workmanship and harmony of all its parts give it a really spectacular performance. In addition to a powerful burst of speed, the Roadster offers perfect traction and accurate cornering, together with neutral handling characteristics at its performance limits. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds and has a top speed of 255 km/h See more

REVELL 1/18 SCALE LLOYD ALEXANDER TS

The Lloyd Alexander TS was a post-war German baby car, big on character and big on engine noise. Light cars were very popular in Germany after the war, witness the bubble car. The Lloyd TS, introduced in 1956 was 25hp, and had an opening boot from the outside - not seen on most earlier Alananders.

The Revell version is a gem, with wonderful details including seperate lights, wing mirrors, door handles, etc. It captures very well the charm of the original. Even if you've never seen the actual vehicle you will fall in love with the model - it looks a little like a 50's Hillman Minx from some angles.

The suicide doors have been well reproduced, and inside the simple metal dash is captured nicely. Under the bonnet is a laughably uncomplicated, very well modelle, engine.

It's odd, but it's often smaller details that make even a large scale model succeed. I think the Lloyd wheelhubs are excellently done and the icing on the cake.--Model Collector

SUPERFAST SIMCA RALLYE 2 IN NEON GREEN

The automaker SIMCA (Société Industrielle de Mécanique et Carrosserie Automobile) was founded in 1934 and manufactured Fiat cars under licence. A new era for the works was ushered in when, in the autumn of 1961, the Simca 1000 was shown at the Paris Automobile Salon. With its modern silhouette, the limousine stood out against the previous Simca models. Even the engine was now more powerful. At the start of 1970 Simca launched the distinctly reworked 1000, now named the Simca 1000 Rallye, followed by the Simca 1000 Rallye 2 in 1972. With 1,294 cc and producing 82HP the Rallye had the most powerful engine of the entire 1000 series. Designed specially as a sports car, the vehicle attracted attention on account of its trunk which was painted black to provide glare protection.

Following the Neon Green example is this ultra colourful Spa car! With the success of the first model in 1951, others quickly followed, including the Simca 1000 Rallye 2, launched at 1972. The car was fairly lightweight but boasted a powerful engine that displayed itself in a remarkable acceleration capability. And it was also at international level. The vehicle was frequently regarded as the counterpart to the equally successful NSU TTS which had similar characteristics. See more.
