PORSCHE 917K FLAT 12 CYL - MARTINI RACING

Auto Art have released futher models of the famous Porsche 917K models from the 1970 and 1971 race seasons. As mentioned previously in Pit Stop, these were available from Universal Hobbies before under the Eagle's Race brand.

These versions, though, include a higher level of finish and accuracy, but they do cost significantly more. The version that I am reviewing this month is the Martini Racing Porsche Austria works entry that took part in the 1970 Kyalamai race in South Africa, driven by Siffert/Ahrens. Finished in the 'psychedelic' style used during this season by this team. For this race the car, carying race number two, ran in yellow and red livery.

As with the former model, this model's nose section is removable showing the radiator and fluid containers sited there. The gull-wing doors each swing upwards to reveal the fully detailed interior with the austere finish of the full-size car. (Reviewed from Model Collector) See more.

DINKY TOYS

Dinky toys, produced from 1933 to 1980, have become popular collectibles today. LESNEY'S MATCHBOX TOY : REGULAR WHEELS

A new and most informative book for Matchbox collectors by one of America's foremost authorities. Matchbox toys are possibly the most popular collectible in America. People who grew up with die cast cars as children tend to love the toys as adults. The old toys have become scarce and variations of newer toys continue to fuel a popular passion "own each one." Enthusiasts collect not only the toys, but catalogs, collector buttons, and boxes. Pictures and text cover the major variations of the most popular series of die cast cars made by Lesney Products from 1947 to mid-1969. EXCELLENT RESOURCE FOR JOHNNY LIGHTNING COLLECTORS

This book is an excellent resource for all Johnny Lightning collectors, experienced and novice. It provides much information on the history of JL and many of the nuances of collecting, manufacturing, etc. There are great color photos of many cars. Price ranges are also included as well as how to rate the condition of the cars. The only drawback I can see is there is little to no info on many of the newer cars/sets. The index is also somewhat difficult to follow, especially if you don't know what year the car was manufactured. Perhaps this will be included in the next edition? BMW LMR-1999 LE MANS
