EUCLID QUARY DUMP TRUCK

Regular Wheels No.6 Euclid Quary Dump Truck

For the heaviest work on the most uneven sites, the Dump Truck is the answer to the civil engineer’s problem. Built somewhat on the lines of a military vehicle that is intended to be used off the road, the dumper has very deep chassis members, a Diesel engine developing at least 120 h.p. and a 5 –or 6 speed gearbox to give flexibility under load. The all-steel tipper body is specially shaped to load and unload rapidly : rectangular bodies tend to retain a small but significant part of a difficult load, such as wet sand. The dump truck driver is protected from debris during loading by a robust plate extending from the body over the cab.

COCA-COLA BRAND 1920 MACK AC

The invention of the patented formula for COCA-COLA and the subsequent retailing of the soft drink began with the Atlanta pharmacist, John S. Pemberton. However, in 1886, it was Asa G. Candler who was most responsible for beginning the aggressive promotion that would build the brand into a world-renowned entity. Candler, who bought the name and the formula in 1891, was an aggressive marketer who made sure the COCA-COLA name was known wherever people stopped for refreshment. Of course, one of the most obvious ways to make the name COCA-COLA familiar to all was to promote it-in its trademarked Spencerian script-in as many places as possible through signage at retail outlets and on billboards across the country. Indeed, as early as 1908, it is estimated that signs bearing the COCA-COLA name covered 2.5 million square feet of wall on American buildings. This aggressive marketing campaign would continue until the present day when COCA-COLA is truly one of the most recognizable brands around the globe. Now, the authentic reproduction of a vintage sign for “Stoneleigh Pharmacy,” advertising COCA-COLA, appears on a classic 1920 MACK AC truck. The MACK truck-another name that is instantly recognizable as an American classic-is re-created in a precision engineered die-cast replica. Crafted and decorated with authentic COCA-COLA trademarks and graphics, your official model is produced by-and available only from-Matchbox Collectibles, the greatest name in die-cast.

YORKSHIRE STEAM WAGON

The “steam age” had a much greater impact in England than it did in the rest of the world. The Americans flirted with the popular Stanley Steamer, but quickly turned to gas-powered engines. The Germans, inventors of the internal combustion engine, had little time for steam.

In England, however, there was a long love affair with steam engines, which were used for all types of vehicles and machinery-everything from ploughing to baling on farms to powering fairgrounds.

The Yorkshire company was renowned for its steam engines, producing more than a thousand steam engines, producing more than a thousand steam wagons between the years 1913 and 1932.

And now the beloved Yorkshire Steam Wagon lives on as handsome die-cast replica from Matchbox. Shop here

1918 ATKINSON STEAM WAGON

When one thinks of the “Golden Age of Steam,” the first image that comes to mind is the locomotive, thundering into palatial stations with clouds of steam billowing everywhere. Yet, the success of the railroads also depended on other steam-powered engines-not the least of which was the steam-engine wagon, which transported essentials to the builders of railroads. One famed maker of steam wagons was Atkinson & Co, of Preston, Lancashire. Originally the firm sold and repaired steam wagons produced by another company. However, when that company moved and took over its own sales, Atkinson began producing its own wagons in 1916. Atkinson incorporated the very best it had garnered from its experience in sales and maintenance. Its early models featured 2-section boilers, a tubular super heater and a 2-cylinder compound engine, and the success of these designs laid the foundation for the long line of trucks and busses which were manufactured up until 1970. Now, with a full load of cobblestones and sand, and 1918 Atkinson Steam Wagon bearing the imprimatur of the City of Westminster is on its way to repair a city street. This intricate model has been crafted by Matchbox Collectibles exclusively for the Age of Steam II Collection.
