SUN STAR 1/18 FORD MUSTANG SPORTSROOF
THE STUDEBAKER LARK STATION WAGON
The Studebaker Lark Station Wagon (42b) had been released in the US in Nevember 1964, but it did not appear in Europe until the New Year. This model appeared at a time when Matchbox was including the maimum number of features to provide value for money. It was decides to enhance this model by including a sliding rear roof panel over the rear compartment.
The usual features of the time were included, in terms of spring suspension, clear plastic windows and a moulded white plastic interior which was extended to include a rear tow hook. A white plastic hunter complete with rifle and hound completed the accessories.
Early models were painted in blue but, as time went by, lighter blue versions appeared. The sliding roof became progressively lighter in colour until a very pale blue sliding roof panel appeared. The earliest boxes depict a red car but this was never issued. A pre-production version with red body, pinkroof and blue roof panel is shown for the sake of interest. It is presumed that this two-colour version was just too expensive to manufacture. Another trail version is known to exist, fitted with Police decals from the Ford Galaxy, but this idea did not reach production.
The only casting variation associated with this model concerns the tow slot below the front bumper which was cast into subsequent releases. The model was never fitted with Superfast wheels as it was replaced by the Iron Fairy Crane in 1969.--Model Collector

JOHNNY LIGHTHING BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER- SPIKE GILES CITROEN
Not only can you get the different actors on the collector cards but you can also get them wearing different clothing and with different quotes. The better quotes with Sarah on them are also more expensive than the ones about pep and so forth. When these do come online as loose cars they sell for a fraction of the blister pack prices. Without the pack though, you wouldn't even know they were from Buffy. So tracking down the right actor card and quote is important as you're not likely to be removing your Citroen from the blister pack. --James Simpson Shop here

CORGI 1/50 - ALBION ARTIC WITH FLAT TRAILER AND BRICKS-LONDON BRICK COMPANY
London Brick Company is famous as the world’s largest brick manufacturer. In the 60’s era LBC ran a fleet of more than 900 vehicles in the famous red livery and familiar circular logos. The company absorbed a number of other brick manufacturers including Eastwoods, Redland and Marston Valley. LBC is now owned by Hanson group.
We haven't featured an old Albion for a while, and in London Brick livery this one is absolutely gorgeous. Another of Corgi's Limited Editions, the detailing is simply superb - particularly the macho frontal, excellent lighting clusters, authentic wipers and the fine hydraulic coupling lines to the trailer, which can be detached. The sheated brick load ie well done, as is the paint work. It's just lovely. Shop here

Incidentally, they were first ordered in 1964 and allocated with B registration suffix markings. This model is Matchbox King-Size K-1 O&K Hydraulic Excavator. It had a red body with a silver grey Jib, red plastic hubs with black plastic tyres and the cab had amber tinted windows. The jib had no less than three hydrosleeves keeping the jib in position and the Jib had red and white 'MH6' labels while the sides of the cab had a red and white label with 'O&K' inside a diamond shape. The model was converted to superfast wheels in 1971. It kept it's red & silver grey from the regular wheeled model but the superfast issue can be found with red and white or yellow and black 'O&K' labels and amber or clear windows. The earliest design for the O&K Excavator had only two hydrosleeves as the two upper parts of the jib were cast as one piece. It is not known weather any of these one piece jibs actually got into circulation.
