MINICHAMPS 1/18 FORD CAPRI 1700GT

When launched in 1969 the Ford Capri created a storm. It was a glamorous machine with fair performance, reasonable room – even in the back, and bags of style.
The waiting list was huge, such was the demand for the European pony car. And the Minichamps’ version has created similar waves in the model world.
The overall shape is superb, catching the still appealing lines of the car expertly: it’s quite a tricky shape to capture, with its long nose and short tail, and Minichamps has done the job very well.
Under the bonnet you can see maker’s plaques and tyre pressure details. There are leads running from the Bosch battery, and items such as the carbs and screen washer bottles are independently detailed.
Separate door handles, wipers, lights, ect, are to be expected, but the interior boasts novelties like swivel ball air vents which are picked out separately. There are chrome push down door locks, every gauge is individually and correctly detailed and tiny touches such as the meticulously reproduced handbrake grip are hard to believe. If you were to shrink to 1/18 scale, you could slide into the driver’s seat and expect to drive away! – Reviewed by Model Collector See more.

IXO - 1975 RENAULT SIETE TL

The slightly odd looking 'Siete' which means 5 in spanish was built as the saloon is seen as more upmarket on the continent. So the five door hatch backed 5 was converted to a decent but dumpy looking saloon car. It didn't sell very well as spanish Renault hoped and was shelved after around 5 years. So I would think even in it's native spain these mk 1 Renault 5's are quite rare. Ixo have done a brilliant job with this model and managed a very good level of detail. --NEO "Daren" See more.

CORGI - MGA - 1956 ALPINE RALLY - NANCY MITCHELL

Nancy Mitchell drove MGs of various types on European events throughout 1956, and won the European Ladies' Rally Championship by doing so; a feat she repeated in 1957. MBL 867 played a remarkable part in that first championship victory giving her wins in the Ladies' Class on the Mille Miglia and the Alpine Rally before rounding the season off with a second in the Ladies' Class on the gruelling Liege-Rome-Liege; an event where finishing is, in itself, an achievement. MBL is modelled here in the form in which it started the Alpine Rally, which not only led to the victory in 'the Ladies', as it was known, but the award of a coveted Coupe des Alpes, something many male crews failed to achieve. Release date: September 2007. See more.

MATCHBOX 1/43 - 1945 JEEP CJ2A

The Jeep 4x4 is perhaps the most famous and recognized of all 4x4 vehicles. Beloved during World War II, the Jeep 4x4 entered civilian life in 1945. It seemed an odd vehicle for public life; post war predictions were of sleek, exotic space-age like cars that would be powered by strange fuels at amazing speeds. The Jeep 4x4 was pure function—from its engine to its seats to its wheels. Yet the Jeep 4x4 found its niche on American farms, ranches and wherever a vehicle was needed that could perform well on the road and off.

The civilian Jeep 4x4 offered in 1945 differed greatly from its military ancestor. It now had revised transmission, a power take-off, shorter overall length and a different axel ratio. It was powered by a side-line, four-cylinder engine that provided 60 horsepower 4000 rpm and displaced 134.2 cubic inches. The three-speed manual transmission was a Warner Gear model T090A, a much large transmission than the military version. Available in grey, tan, blue and brown (it didn’t completely discard its military past), the Civilian Jeep 4x4 could seat two to five passengers. For work, the Jeep 4x4 was available with a variety of basic farming or industry tools, including plows, welders, generators and mowers; and, for inclement weather, Jeep 4x4 offered several top-kits made of duck canvas.

The Jeep 4x4’s design is so distinctive and its role in American history so important, it was placed in the Museum of Modern Art’s exhibition of exceptional automobile design. Alongside the glamorous and luxurious, the Jeep 4x4 has held its own, for its entire appeal has been its no nonsense approach to motoring. From its civilian debut in 1945 until today, the Jeep 4x4 continues to attract the general public, both as a workman-like vehicle, as well as an automobile that now implies a world of fun and freedom. Now, the civilian Jeep 4x4 that debuted in 1945 takes the stage once more in an authentic die-cast replica crafted in the popular 1:43 scale. Precision-engineered and meticulously crafted, the 1945 Jeep CJ2A is produced by—and available only from Matchbox Collectibles.

1922 FODEN STEAM WAGON

The “Age of Seam!.” It was an exciting, robust age when industry asserted its power and envisioned a better future. Everyday, everywhere, there seemed to be more construction, new rail lines, and better products. The sound of steam engines became the music of modernity—chugging, hissing, whistling steam-motors, power plants, and steam-engines. As the great edifices of the industrial age rose, they did so upon the rumbling shoulders of the steam engine—the very dynamo of the industrial age.

One of the foremost pioneers in steam-driven engines was the Cheshire firm of Hancock & Foden which, in 1899, began developing its steam-powered wagons. By 1902, the business was re-named E Foden & Sons Co. Ltd. And, with its line of steam-powered wagons, the firm laid the cornerstone for the modern trucking masterpieces it still manufactures today. Now, a 1922 Foden Steam Wagon—is re-created in a precision-engineered model bearing the logo of Brett & Son. This authentic replica is crafted by Matchbox Collectibles exclusively for the Age of Steam II collection.

JADI 1/18 TRIUMPH TR4 DIECAST MODEL CAR

Triumph TR4 Diecast Model Yellow 1/18 Die Cast Car by Jadi

In 1952, the Standard Triumph company of Coventry under the then director Sir John Black, showed their first sports car, the prototype 2OTS, at the Earls Court Motor Show in London. Series production of a modified design with improved technology began in 1953. The car, from then on known as the TR2, sold successfully. The sportiness and reliability of the new product was underpinned by numerous successes in races and rallies. This was followed in 1956 by the almost identical TR3, in 1958 after a face-lift, by the TR3A and then from 1961 onwards by the technically improved TR3B. The Triumph TR4 was exhibited in September 1961 as the successor to the cramped but sporty TR3A. It represented an attempt to leave the competition trailing behind by means of a readiness to innovate that was out of the ordinary. The external appearance of the TR4 alone indicated that it was not simply a further development of its predecessors. The Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti styled a new metal body shell to fit over the widened chassis of the previous model.

MISTO 1/18 SCALE - CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE

Chrysler Crossfire Diecast Model Grey 1/18 Die Cast Car By Maisto

Chrysler Crossfire Diecast Model Grey 1/18 Die Cast Car By Maisto

Maisto makes terrific die cast models. This one is no exception. If you own a Chrysler Crossfire, or wish you did, you might enjoy having this highly detailed model to park somewhere indoors where you can admire it when you're not enjoying the real thing. The details are very good - hood, doors, and hatch all open. But that by itself doesn't guarantee a great model. Fortunately here, the details are all correct, with even the smallest parts faithfully modeled in the correct colors. The steering wheel moves together with the front wheels that may be posed in a range of positions. I like that Maisto even with to the trouble of making the wheels and tires the right sizes - with the correct proportioned smaller front wheels and tires and larger rear - to give the model the same aggressive appearance sitting on your shelf as it has at the curb! This model is of the normally aspirated, six-speed manual, so SRT owners go begging (or face the challenge of finding a 1/18-scale set of upgrade parts to make it so)! --Paul Mark Provencher "ppro"

IXO 1/43 SCALE - 1965 MORRIS MINI VAN - ROYAL MAIL

NISSAN NISMO 350Z S-TUNE GT

Nissan's NISMO 350Z S-Tune GT is a specially developed super car version to celebrate their victory at the Japanese GT500 Touring Car Championship in 2004. Only 20 are hand-built every month in Japan. They are not officially imported into the UK, except for one that raced at the 2005 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It's been very favourably reviewed as standing comparison with the very best of European super cars.
This model certainly captures the mean stance and look of the real car. The grey metallic paint is very well applied. The lights front and rear are impressive too. You get a good view of the interior of this right hand drive vehicle through the large windscreen. Very impressive. Buy it now.
