VANGUARDS: VOLKSWAGEN CABRIOLET

The first of the new range of Vanguards has been seen, and it is clear that Lledo is setting a new standard with these models. This initial release is the Volkswagen Cabriolet, which comes in maroon with cream interior and black hood. The first impressions are good: Lledo has captured the look of the vehicle extremely well, and such aspects as the silver trim, door handles and windscreen wipers are well portrayed. Dashboard detail is provided. Particularly good are the wheels and the glazed windscreen.

This model are being offered at an advantageous price, but perhaps Lledo might consider for the future making the headlights plastic, rather than chrome, and painting some of the interior detail.

Nevertheless, there can be no doubt that the Vanguards are going to prove to be extremely popular models.

Lledo has changed the packaging with these models, making for a much more attractive presentation.--Model Collectors See More for VW Mania

LLEDO: VW BEETLE WITH SPLIT REAR SCREEN

This model is DG72, the 1952 Volkswagwen Beetle with split rear window. While it is true this is a car frequently modelled, this is a pleasing rendition, which captures the shape, and yet is reasonably priced. Two versions have so far been produced: in patel green and in blue.

LLEDO: VW KOMBI VANS 'CINZANO' AND 'BOSCH'

Volkswagen, this time the 1955 Kombi van, comes as DG73. As a sign of the added attention to detail now being offered by lledo, one version, in the livery of Cinzano, has let hand drive, while the second, in the livery of Bosch ( in Hendon, London), has right hand drive. Again this is pleasing model with attractive liveries.

REVELL 1/18 VW CORRADO VR6 BLACK 1991

The Volkswagen Corrado is a sport compact developed by German automaker Volkswagen and built by Karmann in Osnabrück, Germany between 1988 and 1995. Conceived as a successor to the successful Scirocco, it is a three-door hatchback with a 2+2 seating layout. The Corrado used Volkswagen's B3 platform in the rear of the car, while using the A2 platform technology up front, which it shared with the then-current Golf and Jetta.

The Corrado offered exceptional handling for its time and was listed as one of the "25 Cars You Must Drive Before You Die" by the British magazine, Car. All models featured an innovative rear spoiler which automatically raised when the vehicle reached a set speed (45mph - 65mph depending on the region). Perceived as too expensive, it reached a production total of just 97,521 vehicles according to VWCorrado.de. However, many owner clubs exist around the world and it has become something of a modern classic.

1955 VOLKSWAGEN KAFER BEETLE

The worldwide sales in excess of 21 million Beetles have given rise, over time, to a multiplicity of body modifications and numerous model variants. How-ever, prominent features such as its rounded shape have been retained. Thus, the year 1970 marked a turning point in Beetle product policy. With the completely redesigned type 1302 (1.2 and 1.3 litre engine) and 1302 S (1.6 litre version) a completely new line was created. The 1971 model has, as standard, the semi-trailing arm rear suspension that became familiar on the automatic version, giving it a technically extravagant chassis. In addition the greater height of the engine required a more marked curve to the bonnet. The new horizontally opposed 1584 cc engine with twin port cylinder head delivers a good 50 bhp, giving the 1302 S tremendous tractive power. The redesigned front conceals a transverse arm and spring strut type suspen-sion. The new front axle with McPherson struts has enabled the boot space to be increased to a proud 260 litres. Another attractive external feature had also appeared: an extra vent behind the rear side window. At 870 kg, the light-weight 1302 S offered a top speed of 130 km/h. Apart from the fact that the 1302 S was the most comfortable Beetle so far, this model was crowned with yet another success: on 17.02.1972 the 15,007,034th Beetle, a 1302 S, rolled off the line. The world record for the best-selling car ever, previously held by the legendary Ford T model, had been broken. See more.

VANGUARDS : 1/43 VW BEETLE

The history of the Beetle started in 1938 when Hitler commissioned Ferdinand Porsche to work on what became know as ‘The Peoples car’. It was an American reporter who thought the car resembled an insect and that is how it got it’s infamous name! Since its inception, the original Beetle has seen many design changes but it still remains one of the most loved cars ever built.

TIN TIN CAR-EDITIONS ATLAS

The Adventures of Tintin is a series of comic books created by Belgian artist Georges Remi (1907–1983). The series first appeared in French in a children's supplement to the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle on January 10, 1929. The series has continued as a favourite of readers and critics alike for over 70 years.

The hero of the series is Tintin, a young Belgian reporter and traveller. He is aided in his adventures from the beginning by his faithful fox terrier dog Snowy (Milou in French). Later, popular additions to the cast included the brash, cynical and grumpy Captain Haddock, the bright but hearing-impaired Professor Calculus (Professeur Tournesol in French) and other colourful supporting characters such as the incompetent detectives Thomson and Thompson (Dupond et Dupont in French).
The success of the series saw the serialized strips collected into a series of albums (23 in all), spun into a successful magazine and adapted for both film and theatre. The series is one of the most popular European comics of the 20th century, with translations published in over 50 languages and more than 200 million copies of the books sold to date.

VOLKSWAGEN POLICE CAR

Its compact dimension, performace and reputation for all-weather reliability make the VW Beetle a popular member of the fleets of Continental police forces. Of the engine variants available most police services use the 1300 and 1200 model with an output of 40 h.p. The Volkswagen engine is a rear-mounted air-cooled unit, and it is the latter feature which makes it so suitable in extremes of temperature. Although the VW was designed before the Second World War, its specification is by no means out of date today. The suspension is independent at front and rear and the horizontally-opposed engine is robust, smooth and economical.

IS YOURS A YELLOW ONE?

Models of Volkswagen Beetle have proved highly popular ever since the very first one was made back in 1938.

The first model, built by workers of the Porche company in Stuttgart, was never sold but sparked the first of a number of model Beetles to be produced by various companies in Germany before 1940.

Today, VW Beetles are highly collectable, both in model and 'on the road form', and now two new model 'Bugs' join the ever-growing model VW family thanks to The Diecast Collector and Lledo.

The British manufacturing diecast firm to produce the FREE Bettle attached to the front of this magazine.

Chances are that you have a red VW, but a very limited number of yellow VW Beetles have also been produced with only 250 have been released nationwide.

Your red VW is worth GBP.6.25, but there is no doubt that the limited edition yellow versions will be highly sought after-and worth a lot more.

So, if you've a yellow VW on the front of your Diecast Collector, congratulations! If not, we hope you'll enjoy your red 'Bug' just the same - but keep an eye out in the shops for those treasured yellow versions.
