HOT WHEELS 1/18 FERRARI F50

The Ferrari F50 is a high-performance Supercar, introduced in 1996 to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. The car is a two-door, two-seat convertible with a removable hardtop and has a 4.7L naturally aspirated sixty-valve V-12 engine that was developed from Ferrari's F1 powerplant. Only 349 cars were made, one less than Ferrari estimated they could sell.
This car has been superbly modelled by Hot Wheels in their ever increasing 1:18 scale Ferrari range. As we have said in the past in other Ferrari reviews, this model is excellent quality and extremely good value for the collector! Hot Wheels have captured the power and grace of these incredible machines, and of course the red paintwork and prancing horse speaks for itself!! Buy it now

HOT WHEELS 1/43 FERRARI 250 GT BERLINETTA SWB

This 1:43 scale Ferrari is one of a variety of collectible vehicles approved by Ferrari for authentic styling and decoration. Beautifully crafted and highly detailed, this car makes a great collectible or gift for any auto enthusiast. One of the most important GT racers of its time, the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB was first unveiled at the 1959 Paris Salon. The designation SWB indicated the short wheelbase chassis designed for better handling compared to the former long wheelbase version. The car was available in competition specification with an aluminum body, lightweight interior trim and with the engine in a higher state of tune. 176 samples were built and sold from 1959 to 1963. After its release the car was hugely successful in racing. It was capable of beating many larger-engine cars. Motor Trend Classic placed the 250 SWB fifth on a list of the ten greatest Ferraris of all time. At the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 250 GT Berlinetta SWB with race #22 proved its competitiveness by taking 4th to 7th place overall and sweeping 1st through 4th place of the GT class. Among the four SWBs, Dernier / Noblet took 6th in a gray with blue stripe SWB number 22.

The Ferrari 250 is a series of sports cars built by Ferrari from the 1950s and early 1960s. It was the company's most successful early line of vehicles, produced for over a decade from 1953 to 1964 and resulting in several variants. Here it is proposed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans version of 1960. In the hands of Leon Dernier and Pierre Noblet this Ferrari 250 Short Wheel Based had no problem keeping the 6th place until the end of that race. Several technical innovations have made this car really competitive in international races. During the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1960 the Ferrari contenders were not able to compete: at the end of the race six different versions of the Ferrari 250 had entered the first seven places. THE COMPLETE BOOK OF HOT WHEELS BY BOB PARKER

The appearance of Hot Wheels and their effect on the toy market has been frequently recounted: has there ever been a greater influence which resulted in toy companies throughout the world wondering how they could make their toys move faster.

This book traces the history of these famous toys. It provides a potted background, before looking at each year from 1968 to 1999, examining the main features of the year and listing the new items released.

Each of these year accounts is accompanied by excellent colour illustrations occupying nearly 394 pages of this A4 sized book.

Well over half, however, is taken up by tables of all the variation found on each of the toys and a price guide.

As far as Hot Wheels are concerned, this book will probably not be bettered.

HOT DOG WHEELS FROM HOT WHEELS

Believe it or not, the ‘Oscar Mayer Wienermobile’, looking very much like a Hot Dog sausage on wheels is actually a real vehicle and very much in the vein of the Tri-ang Macleans toothpaste van, the Worthington bottle car and the outspan orange car. These are custom built vehicles created to emulate the product being advertised and are used for publicity and promotional purposes. This is a real 'Hot Dog' vehicle. See more.

HOT WHEELS: FERRARI DINO 246 GTS

Ferrari Dino 246 GTS Diecast Model Red 1/18 Die Cast Car By Hotwheels

The Ferrari Dino 246 GTS is a stunning model, fully demonstrating once again how fortunate are those whose collections feature Ferraris, for they are so often presented with excellence. The review sample is in the familiar red, and fully illustrates the high quality, from the wheels and windscreen wipers to the various lights all represented as separate plastic fittings. A review such as this cannot really do justice to this model: better that you inspect an example, and you wll undoubtedly decide to include it in your collection.

THE FEROCIOUS FIORANO - FABULOUS FERRARI

2007 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano diecast model car 1:18 scale die cast by Hot Wheels - Red J2859

The Ferrari Fiorano, the company's 2-seat Grand Turismo flagship model, replaced the 575 Maranello and debuted at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. The styling of the Fiorano bears some resemblance to its sister car, the 612 Scaglietti, yet at the same time carries a sportier, more aggressive stance. The differences are mostly in the squared-off body detailing, the lack of the scalloped side detail of the 612 and more obvious aerodynamic ducting, particularly on the bonnet, in the front wing over the front wheels and the flying buttress C pillars. These pillars are the most distinctive feature of the Fiorano and are designed to redirect airflow over the small lip spoiler on the red decklid. These, in conjunction with the shaped undertray allow the Fiorano to exhbit a degree of stability at very high speeds that was lacking in its predecessor, by contributing downforce and aerodynamic efficiency without the need for ungainly wings and spoilers. The 599's Enzo sourced Tipo F133F 6.0 L (5999cc) V-12 is the most powerful series production Ferrari road car and most of the modifications to the engine were done to allow it to fit in the Fiorano's engine bay. The company claims a 3.7 second sprint to 100km/h (62mph) and 11.0 to 200km/h (124mph) --SMI

A CHALLENGING FERRARI: THE F430 FIZZES!

Ferrari F430 Challenge 14 Diecast Model Super Elite 1/18 Die Cast Car by Hotwheels

Ferrari had reaffirmed the strong link between its GT and Sporting Divisions with the F430 Challenge which was specifically designed to meet the expectations of its sportier clinets. The F430 Challenge retains the same general look and 490 hp engine as the road-going version, however, it also incorporate a large number of significant track-oriented modifications and a host of new features not seen in the previous 360 Challenge. As ever, the transfer from Formula 1 is significant, particularly with regard to the braking system which uses carbon-ceramic material, a first for a Ferrari sports competition car. The electronic gearbox is also F1-derived and works in exactly the same way as the one used aboard the Grand Prix car. New 19” slick tyres have also been specifically developed by Pirelli to comply with the very strict racing regulations whilst still delivering blistering. Performance.

The F430 Challenge boasts a kerb weight of just 1,225 kg, the weight being reduced in every area of the car, from the engineering to the bodywork, and to ensure that drives get the full benefit of the car’s sporty prowess on the track, the E-Diff has been replaced by a mechanical differential and the EBD has been replaced with a mechanical system. The most notable of the other solutions introduced in the new F430 Challenge is the steering wheel with a quick release mechanism to make it easier to get into and out of the car. The rear of the car is characterized by a new exhaust system which has high central tail pipes, and a modified grille which increases the extraction of hot air from the rear of the engine bay. The anti-roll bars, springs and single-rate shocks have all been modified for racing use too and the centre-locking wheels make wheel changes faster too, as does the fact that the car incorporates pneumatic jacks.

Once again Hot Wheels has triumped with their model of the F430 Challenge, with all the detail of the real car scaled down to 1:18 including the single, centre locking wheel nut, the 490hp engine and the fabulous body styling and decals. A supreme addition to any Ferrari or racing collection. ( Review by SMI magazines)
