1941 Willys 'America' Coupe was intended to be a low-cost 'people's car' but World War II didn't give it chance. After the war, its clean, uncluttered good looks, light weight, and a adaptability to a wide variety of V-8 engines made it a favorite with drag racers and it's now a popular street rod subject. It's also one of the first rods. The body is stock and Road Signature has modeled its line and proportions very accurately. In true hot rod fashion, all the chrome trim except the characteristic Willys toothy grille has been removed. The basic black paint is glossy, with some orange peel, and is set off by neatly printed flames. Oversize chrome wheels, low-profile rubber, and disk breakes at all four corners identify it as a modern street rod, as does the interior with its fully instrumented console and multiple speakers in the door panels. Under the hood, the Chrysler Hemi V-8 engine is wiered and plumbed, although the plug wires are pretty thick. More evidence of contemporary construction can be seen in the fuel aell and nitrous oxide bottle in the trunk. Wheelbase checks out to the listed 1:18 scale too. Shop here

Y12-4 1829 Stephensons Rocket locomotive joined the range in 1987. The Rocket was painted yellow with a white chimney, black baseplates and although it was quite a detailed model only the brightwork on the engine and the cylinders was made from plastic so the rocket might have been a small model it was a weighty model too.
The name and the body lining to the wheels and tender was applied by black tampo printing and the pipework, dome and safety valve was gold plated plastic. It was released as a limited edition with a production of only 60,000 pieces. The Rocket was a charming model and well made too and it makes you wonder at exactly what other Locos were planned and what we missed out on. Shop here

In 1957 the Corvette SS was developed to be the Corvette race car that would beat the best of the European sports cars; the Ferraris and Maseratis. It took Zora Arkus-Duntov only 6 months to develop this purpose built racer. The SS engine deveoped 307 hp at 6,400 RPM from it's 283 c.i. iron block. The aerodynamic drag of the SS was similar to that of the famous D Jaguar and its frame weighed only 180 pounds and was patterned after the Mercedes-Benz 300SL. The instrument panel was functional and elegant. A clock was included which proved useful in the endurance races. The car was a spectacular hit at Sebring in 1957. The SS legend has grown ever since!
One of the most coveted cars of the 50s, it became an instant classic, just as sought-after by collectors today!

From the range of US Collectables from Sun Star in 1/18th scale, this is the 1971 Ford Mustang. As we expect from 1/18th scale models, this has serveral operating features, while the detailing is good, including the engine, although the interior could be improved.
The usual features of the time were included, in terms of spring suspension, clear plastic windows and a moulded white plastic interior which was extended to include a rear tow hook. A white plastic hunter complete with rifle and hound completed the accessories.
Early models were painted in blue but, as time went by, lighter blue versions appeared. The sliding roof became progressively lighter in colour until a very pale blue sliding roof panel appeared. The earliest boxes depict a red car but this was never issued. A pre-production version with red body, pinkroof and blue roof panel is shown for the sake of interest. It is presumed that this two-colour version was just too expensive to manufacture. Another trail version is known to exist, fitted with Police decals from the Ford Galaxy, but this idea did not reach production.
The only casting variation associated with this model concerns the tow slot below the front bumper which was cast into subsequent releases. The model was never fitted with Superfast wheels as it was replaced by the Iron Fairy Crane in 1969.--Model Collector

MAN traces its origins back to 1758, when the St. Antony ironworks commenced operation in Oberhausen, Germany, the first heavy-industry in the Ruhr region. In 1908 after a number of acquisitions, the company was renamed Maschinenfabrik Augsburg Nurnberg AG, or MAN. The corporate predecessors of MAN were responsible for numerous technological innovations, including cooperation in the development of the diesel engine. By 1924, the company showed its first diesel truck at the Berlin Motor Show. After WWII, MAN shifted focus to commercial vehicles and became famous for its line of trucks, from delivery vans to heavy-hauling over-the-road rigs. Shop here
