CORGI - THE BEATLES YELLOW SUBMARINE DIECAST MODEL

The new Yellow Submarine, Corgi changed the model and box yet again. Introduced in 2002 and currently available, advertising photos show the model and box yet again. Introduced in 2002 and currently available, advertising photos show the model with red hutches in the closed position. On release, the model underwent more economies as the hatches were body colour yellow, though, of course, there may be someout there with red hatches0 This final version is just a little disappointing. With the hatches clamped shut and the colour scheme all yellow, the only saving grace is the addition of furture artwork from the movie on a new box. Shop here

CORGI - THE BEATLES YELLOW SUBMARINE DIECAST MODEL

In early 1997, Corgi released a small catalogue showing the six month in the new Beatles Collection range. In a masterstroke, the catalogue style mirrored the collage design of the Anthology albums. To add effect, the catalogue was designed to appear like a record and placed within a cardborad sleeve.

The model has four small screws holding it together. Th front wheel is now roller and the conning tower rail and periscopes are made from polystyrene, instead of polythene. Both hatches have additional side bars inside to guide them to the closed position. The buttons to activate the hatches are now painted black.

The model sits snugly in its box and is accompanied by a small catalogue and certificate. A variation is known regarding the design of cellophane window. See more

THE BEATLES COLLECTION: YELLOW SUBMARINE

The ‘Beatles Yellow Submarine’, being based on the feature length Yellow Submarine cartoon, featured comic caricature figures of John, Paul, George and Ringo beneath opening front and rear hatches, and a group of four large pericopes that turned as the vessel rolled on its hidden wheels. Early versions were authentic in having one yellow and one white hatch with trime picked out in red and the trim omitted, but overall this 128mm model was a faithful replica.

The last of the Yellow Submarine reproductions, BT78211, is still on sale today. See more The Beatles Collection.

THE BEATLES COLLECTION: BEATLES ROUTEMASTER BUS

The memory can play strange tricks. The third of the Beatles models is the AEC Routemaster bus in Liverpool Corporation livery. Enthusiasts know that back in the 60s and 70s the Routemaster was a strictly London-only bus, but don't blame Corgi. There was an insistence from certain people that Routemasters ran in Liverpool, so Corgi had to produced its Routemaster in Liverpool's colours. Of course, the Leyland Atlantean would have been far more authentic.

However, since this series is to celebrate The Beatles, few will probably worry much about the actual bus chosen. The destination is, of course, Penny Lane, and the registration number is 'BEAT 1'. On the side are advertisements which we believe are shots from A Hard Day's Night.

THE BEATLES REVOLVER DIE-CAST VEHICLES

Revolver is the seventh album by English rock band The Beatles, released on 5 August 1966. The album showcased a number of new stylistic developments which would become more pronounced on later albums. Many of the tracks on Revolver are marked by an electric guitar-rock sound, in contrast with their previous, folk-rock inspired Rubber Soul. It reached #1 on the UK chart for seven weeks and #1 on the U.S. chart for six weeks.

Revolver was released before the Beatles' last tour in August 1966, but they did not perform songs from the album live. Their reasoning for this was that many of the tracks on the album, for example "Tomorrow Never Knows", were too complex to perform with live instruments.
