The Citroen 2CV Charleston fully captures the look of this cult car and perhaps this model is helped by the fact that the doors are not intended to open, so the body lines are not interrupted. The model comes in grey. Independently sprung wheels act just like the real thing. The bonnet ribbing is very well done. The basic interior is well crafted. The flapped up windows look the part. The Chipperfield's Circus models has arrived, and a very pleasing addition it is too. It is the Land Rover as a public address vehicle to announce the arrival of the circus to town. Apart from the familiar red and blue colour scheme, and the provision of two loudspeakers, the model comes with two white metal clowns.

These figures will certainly make the display come to life, being delightful figures, carefully hand painted. Playing his familiar trumpet is a model representative of that famous 'musical' clown Charlie Cairoli, while about to drench anyone within reach with a bucket of water is a model representing one of the 'slapstick' greats, Professor Grimble. Automobile innovator Ransom Rli Olds formed the REO Motor Co. in 1904 after his penchant for the technical side of the business led him into confrontations that drove him from his name sake company, Oldmobile. The top-of-the-line model had a wheelbase of 126 inches with luxurious upholstery and seating for seven with its rear jump set. British Leyland's internal politics meant that the MGB was not replaced in the early seventies as initially planned but was given small face lifts every year. It received standard Rostyle wheels, rocker switches, rubber-faced overriders, bright lurid colours reflecting the zeitgeist and in 1973 the grille centres and wipers became matt-black.

The car modelled is a famous press and publicity vehicle, photographed on 30th August 1972, and is reproduced as it was that day. The pictures appeared in brochures, newspapers, books and other publicity material. However, research by The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust shows that the number plate AKO 181L appeared on many other BL publicity cars. Shop here

The unconventional fiberglass body of the Avanti coupe, which was designed by French born Raymond Loewy, still looks modern and contemporary today. The interior theme was aviation with some controls even on the ceiling. The car was built on the shortened version of Studebaker's Lark convertible chassis and was powered by Studebaker's 4.7 liter 289cid V8. However, because of production problems related to its fiberglass body, only 3,834 Avantis were built in 1963 and 809 in 1964. The problem meant the car was unable to be the promised savior of the trobled Studebaker, which ceased operations in 1966. However, two Studebaker dealers in South Bend, Indiana, bought the rights to the Avanti in 1965 and continued to produce their Avanti II until 1987.

McRae’s 1995 season started badly, with no hint that he would end it as World Rally Champion and the youngest ever winner of the title. However, by dint of a superb winning drive in New Zealand, and a controversial second place in Catalunya, McRae and Ringer started the last event of the year, their home rally, equal on points with Subaru team-mates Carlos Sainz and Luis Moya. The result was never really in doubt, despite suffering a puncture in Pundershaw and losing two minutes, McRae simply pulverised the opposition to win the rally and become Britain’s first World Rally Champion. In Catalunya McRae and Ringer were classified second behind team mates Sainz and Moya after Dave Richards, Subaru’s team manager, imposed team orders. Colin initially did not agree with this and posted a series of fast stage times. However he finally assented and clocked into the penultimate time control late, giving Sainz and Moya the victory. Introduction in 1955 it was produced until 1964. With a total length of 139ins (345cm) it had three rows of seats to accommodate six people. Powered by the Fiat the Fiat 600 saloon engine of 633cc, the little bus would happily do 50 mph and give 45 mpg. The rear-mountd engine meant luggage space was limited but the seats did not fold down. Used as taxis in their native Italy, the fully independently sprung minibus was original people carrier back in the mid 1950s, an idea that has been taken up by the Japanese car manufactures of today. In each chapter, the text is sufficient to provide the basic information without going into great detail. Don't therefore expect to put down this book hoping to be an expert on the subjects covered. CAR OF THE STARS; DUESENBERG SSJ

The SSJ's diecast body is clean, smooth, and very well detailed. The two-tone black and cream paint is equally fine, with razor-sharp separation lines, but neither car was ever painted in these colours. Overall body lines and proporations are exactly right, but Altaya has managed to combine the un-reflexed fenders of 2549 with the vertical taillights of 2595. There are no chromed parts; all the trim, including the bumpers and grille, is painted silver, obviously to hold the cost down. Dimensions check out to 1:43 scale very well. Shop here

The Aston Martin DBR9 won the Sebring 12 Hours LMGT1 category in 2005, but came third in Le Mans 24 Hour LMGT1 category, behind arch-rivals Corvette Racing. In 2006, the DBR9 was less successful, finishing second behind the Corvette at both Sebring and Le Mans. The Mini-Cooper was the brainchild of John Cooper, then proprietor of the successful Cooper Formula 1 team. He saw the racing potential in his friend Issigonis's nimble economy car, the Mini, and after building a prototype, persuaded BMC to build the 1000 cars needed for homologation.

BMC agreed to pay Cooper £2 per car for the use of his prestigious name, and the Austin Seven Cooper (and Morris Mini Cooper) were launched on 20th September 1961. The Austin version officially became the Mini-Cooper in January 1962. BMC worried it wouldn't sell but high profile motor sport success soon meant it became the classless car everyone wanted. In 1979 came the 150th anniversary of George Shillibeer's original London omnibus, and to mark the event twelve Routemasters were sponsored to be decorated in a special green and yellow livery reminiscent of that used by Shillibeer. The result was attractive vehicles which brightened up the streets of London.

On the actual buses, the surrounds to the windows were red: while Corgi has provided a red surround to the windscreen, the other windows are left completely yellow. The advertisements for North Thames Gas on the front and rear are a little too small ; they should extend the full depth of the green panel.

The combination of the green and yellow in the area above the engine cover is not accurate, but again probably resulted from the difficulty in mask spraying in this part of the casting. Shop here

In early 1997, Corgi released a small catalogue showing the six month in the new Beatles Collection range. In a masterstroke, the catalogue style mirrored the collage design of the Anthology albums. To add effect, the catalogue was designed to appear like a record and placed within a cardborad sleeve.

The model has four small screws holding it together. Th front wheel is now roller and the conning tower rail and periscopes are made from polystyrene, instead of polythene. Both hatches have additional side bars inside to guide them to the closed position. The buttons to activate the hatches are now painted black.

The model sits snugly in its box and is accompanied by a small catalogue and certificate. A variation is known regarding the design of cellophane window. See more

Maisto makes terrific die cast models. This one is no exception. If you own a Chrysler Crossfire, or wish you did, you might enjoy having this highly detailed model to park somewhere indoors where you can admire it when you're not enjoying the real thing.

The details are very good - hood, doors, and hatch all open. But that by itself doesn't guarantee a great model. Fortunately here, the details are all correct, with even the smallest parts faithfully modeled in the correct colors. The steering wheel moves together with the front wheels that may be posed in a range of positions.

I like that Maisto even with to the trouble of making the wheels and tires the right sizes - with the correct proportioned smaller front wheels and tires and larger rear - to give the model the same aggressive appearance sitting on your shelf as it has at the curb!

K17 - FORD D800 ARTICULATED LOW LOADER WITH BULLDOZER

This model released the Matchbox King-Size K-17 Ford D800 Articulated Low Loader with Case Bulldozer in 1970. The tractor and trailer were always painted green all over except for the yellow fuel tanks which when lifted would uncouple the tractor unit from the trailer. The baseplate was silver painted and it included the grille as part of the casting which meant it did not need silver trim. The cab was fitted with green tinted plastic windows and it had a red roof beacon. Both tractor and trailer were fitted with red plastic hubs with black plastic tyres which included a spare wheel mounted to the top of trailer.

The bulldozer had a red painted body with a yellow baseplate which included the engine and dozer blade as part of the casting. It also had yellow plastic rollers and a removable yellow metal cab roof and it was fitted with green rubber tracks which were replaced by black rubber tracks on the later issues. Both the the Tractor unit and the Bulldozer had decals for 'Laing' but later 'Taylor Woodrow' decals were fitted including extra decals applied to the back of the tractor cab and to the back of the Bulldozer cab.

The Bedford 12cwt Van (25a), known in the USA as a panel truck, was only ever painted in dark blue. The ‘Dunlop’ decal was the first non-Matchbox advertisement, Lesney having sought and obtained permission from the tyre company for thids, and Dunlop was the first company to pay for its advertising space on a Matchbox vehicle. The fact that this model completed its life in one guise, with only changes to the wheels from metal to grey plastic and with the decals from orange-yellow to yellow indicates that as long as Dunlop paid for the advertisement Lesney was happy to continue with the model unaltered as long as sales were maintained. In any case, during the 1950s and for most of the 1960s, Lesney could never make enough models because export demand alone always outstripped supply. --Model Collector

This will be a popular model, as next to Ferrari, Jordan is seen by many Formula 1 followers as the 'Team of the People'. In 1999 the Jordan team had finished third in the constructor's title race. The future looked bright, but their arrangement to use works Honda units, promised to BAR, was not the materialise until this year. This saw the team slip to sixth place in the constructor's race. The model carries racing number 6 and new team signing Jarno Trulli is the driver. Trulli's best result last season was a fourth place in Brazil, while Frentzen, whose car is also available, was on the podium twice in third place. 2000 sponsorship is from Deutsche Telekom, as well the striking 'Buzzin Hornets' livery, carried in non-smoking French and British races.
All of the models include driver figures wearing their race helmets in correct colours, even Micheal Schumacher, who changed his helmet colours for the 2000 season. There is working steering and opening fuel fi;;er flaps on each side of the driver's cockpit.
The tyres carry the grooves specified by the 2000 regulations. Each carries the Bridestone 'Potenza' white branding markings accurately on every sidewall. In 2001 Michelin return to the fray. --Model Collector See more

The model for 1995 was the AEC cab with an elliptical tanker in the livery of Major, who were suppliers of gasolines and oils in the North East and Midlands. The 1959 RAC rally was the first year of Jack Kemsley’s time in charge. He increased the emphasis on special stages and moved the date to November, which resulted in a tougher event badly affected by blizzard conditions in Scotland. Although famously won by Burgess/Croft-Pearson Ford Zephyr Mk2, the event also marked the international rally debut of Ford’s Anglia 105E. Marks and Spencer re-launched their clothing range in 2006 and teamed up with two sixties icons, Twiggy and the Mini. The Mk1 Mini modelled here was bought by Elstree Studios specifically for use in the advert and sent to the London branch of legendary wall paper and fabric design house De-Gournay, who painted the car with a pink cherry blossom design. It was then used by M&S for over a year before being given away in a competition. It is now owned by a Mini enthusiast who exhibits the car at shows.Shop here

QUARTZO 1/43 COOPER T51 CLIMAX 4CYL - CHRIS BRISTOW

The Cooper T51 powered by the 2.5 litre 4 cylinder FPF Climax engine pushed out 220 bhp at 6,500 rpm. Chris Bristow, the young up-and-coming Bristish driver, qualified the car in third place, on the front row of the grid beside Brabham's Cooper T53 and eventual race winner Stirling Moss in his Rob Walker entered Lotus 18. Bristow dropped from fifth to ninth when he retired on lap 17 of the 100 lap race with gearbox problems, Bristow was sadly to lose his life at Spa only three weeks later in the same car.

The model is finished in the BRP colours of lime green and red, known as British Grazing Green at the same time. An extra high tail is fitted, although unfortunately as an add-on there is a gap between the bodywork and this extra tail piece. Otherwise the finish is similar to the other Coopers reviewed previously from the Portuguese company. The model is a limited of 2,000 pieces. Shop here

MINICHAMPS 1/43 MERCEDES L3500 FLATBED PLATEFORM TRAILER

This model is the MB L3500 1950's Mercedes open back truck with removable plastic tilt. The green colour and typical black chassis are classic Mercedes features, whilst the bonnet top is adorned by a scale etched three pointed star badge. The head and tail lights are particularly good, as are the semaphore turn signal indicators mounted high up on the rear of the cab. This truck is real classic and is sure to appear in famous German liveries. See more
